Big Cats Don't Cry Productions is a Los Angeles based production company with a focus on developing, producing and/or co-producing visually captivating independent films that explore the intricacy of characters. 



Danielle Karagannis

Co-CEO, writer, director, executive producer 

Danielle's directorial feature debut, INSOMNIA! -- an ensemble comedy inspired by Danielle’s experience working at Amoeba Music in Hollywood -- is midst financing and packaging. Danielle is in the finishing touches of post re: her short film/proof of concept, GROUND CONTROL -- a psychological drama that is an interpretation of David Bowie’s character Major Tom, while also being in development for the feature version. Additionally, she is directing several upcoming short films and writing more features for her company.

Coming from an extensive visual arts background, with a Master of Arts from New York University, Danielle was a working photographer for years prior to expanding into the filmmaking medium. Fluent at story, where she has professionally analyzed hundreds of screenplays and films for production companies, film festivals, and editorials. Danielle was also a long-time trained musician in classical piano and flute, and taught herself guitar and bass. Much of her film inspiration and editing tactics derive from beats of music.


Josh Gridley

Co-CEO, executive producer, creative consultant

Josh began his career in film as a recipient of the prestigious Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Internship where his focus was animation. Following, he was selected for the apprenticeship program at Disney animation and shortly after, he was hired as an animator for Disney, Imageworks and ReelFx. From there, he expanded his skill set as a filmmaker and become a previs artist. Josh did previs at The Third Floor for seven years working primarily on tentpole films including Ready Player One, Doctor Strange, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Pirates of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Avengers: Age of Ultron, The Avengers, Thor: The Dark World, Oblivion, The BFG, and so on. He is currently a senior animator at Insomniac Games, recently having worked on Marvel/Sony's Spider-Man, released September of 2018.
